TikTok announced its new global positioning this month: "Watch it. Love it. Want it." Three words that tell you everything about where the platform is heading, and how seriously it wants to be taken as a commerce destination, not just an entertainment one.
This isn't a subtle repositioning. It's TikTok explicitly telling brands, agencies, and the retail industry that the distance between discovering a product and buying it has collapsed on this platform.
The inspiration and the transaction now happen in the same place. And if your brand is still treating TikTok as a place to post content and hope for awareness, you're using a very different product to the one TikTok thinks it's building.
