The official FIFA World Cup sponsors have paid for the right to put their logo on the tournament. Some of them will spend nine figures doing it, and they'll get pitch-side boards, broadcast integration, official partnership status, and a seat at the table for every major commercial activation.
What they won't automatically get is the cultural conversation. That’s something that happens on social, and on social, the badge doesn’t mean as much.
