Your Audience Is Your Asset. Here's How to Stop Treating It Like a Number

Somewhere along the way, the creator economy taught everyone to optimize for the wrong thing. Follower count became the metric. The number at the top of your profile became the shorthand for your value, your rate, your credibility. Brands asked for it first. Creators chased it hardest. And the whole industry built itself around a figure that, it turns out, is one of the least useful ways to understand whether an audience is actually worth anything.
Here's the thing no one says loudly enough: a big number at the top of your profile is not an asset. A community of people who genuinely trust you is. And those two things are not the same.
